An outdoor gem in Castlecrag, New South Wales

During lockdown, I was keen to explore and photograph something different from my usual Sydney Harbour shots. I was keen to take advantage of this opportunity to go more local. I realised that I needed some fresh inspiration and add more variety to my work.

Angophora at Castlecrag, New South Wales

As I was driving around, I came across this beautiful spot. It's the Castlecrag Northern Escarpment which has steep hills rising from Middle Harbour and leads onto Sugarloaf Point.

Why I love this photo of Castlecrag, New South Wales?

This photo featuring the angophora tree shows how one doesn't have to go very far to see beautiful spots like this, especially in their local area. Having seen people set up a table and chair for picnics, I wouldn't mind holding a picnic there one day when lockdown restrictions start to ease.

Secondly, it goes to show that there's more to Sydney than just Sydney Harbour and the beaches. There's the local bushland which forms a big part of the Australian wildlife and habitat.

Thirdly, the tree in this image is a symbol of the Australian bush, especially with the clear blue skies. That tree is juxtaposed with the sandstone building in this image. I stood in awe of its natural beauty which appears untouched despite the development over time.
